- The Digital Unix 4.0 Documentation Library has been placed
online. To access, type 'bnu' on any Glue Digital Unix machine.
- Spim has been upgraded to 6.1, tap spim to access.
9/11/98
- gcc version 2.8.1 installed on Solaris 2.5/2.6 and
Digital Unix 4 platforms. To access the old gcc, use
gcc-2.7.2 on Solaris and gcc-2.7.2.1 on DU.
To use the old g++, use g++-2.7.2 -L/usr/local/gnu/lib/2.7.2 on
Solaris and g++-2.7.2.1 -L/usr/local/gnu/lib/2.7.2.1 on DU.
- libstdc++ version 2.8.1.1 installed on Solaris 2.5/2.6 and
Digital Unix 4 platforms. (This used to be called libg++.)

Recent events on the software front:
- Netscape Communicator upgraded to 4.06
(there is not currently an x86 netbsd version).
- Netscape Communicator 4.5beta installed on Solaris
machines for evaluation. Use the netscape-beta command to
start. (note: this is completely unsupported).
- Matlab 5.2 has been installed, and is now the default
Matlab. Tap matlab for more information.
- Maple V Release 5 installed, and is now the default
Maple. Tap maple for more information.
- Mathematica 3.0.2 is now the default version of mathematica.
- Java is now at version 1.1.6.
- Idl is now at version 5.1.
- Networker backup software version 4.2.3 has been installed.
- Island Office is now at version 6.0
- Purify is now at version 4.1.
- Internet Exporer for Solaris is now the Strong Encryption
version 4.01.
