Practical Quantum Computing Workshop

This workshop is intended to introduce interested users of the UMD community to the emerging field of quantum computing and to the new Q-Lab facility, which provides privileged access to IonQ's quantum computers. HPC users can easily access them via the Jupyter application on the OnDemand web portal. We plan to offer quantum computing related workshops a number of times throughout the year.

This workshop will introduce participants to the basics of quantum computing with practical examples, which can be run as quantum simulations or directly submitted to IonQ's quantum computers. This course will briefly cover:

Much of the above tasks will be discussed in terms of the OnDemand web portal for the Deepthought2 cluster.

There are no prerequisites for this workshop. This is an introductory workshop, so no previous knowledge of quantum mechanics and quantum computing is assumed.

More details (and a link to the registration form) can be found on the page for specific offerings of this workshop. The next scheduled workshops are (or last offered workshop if no workshops are currently scheduled):

We also offer Workshops on Quantum Algorithms several times throughout the year.

Quantum Computing for Earth Science Bootcamp

A bootcamp on application of quantum computing for Earth Science data, from remote sensing and signal processing to data analytics and large-scale ensemble climate modeling, is offered on August 15-19, 2022. Please follow the link for further information and registration.
