This workshop is intended to introduce interested users of the UMD community to the emerging field of quantum computing and to the new Q-Lab facility, which provides privileged access to IonQ's quantum computers. HPC users can easily access them via the Jupyter application on the OnDemand web portal.
This workshop will introduce participants to the basics of quantum computing with practical examples, which can be run as quantum simulations or directly submitted to IonQ's quantum computers. This course will briefly cover:
Much of the above tasks will be discussed using the Jupyter application at the OnDemand web portal for the Deepthought2 cluster.
None. This is an introductory workshop, so no previous knowledge of quantum mechanics and quantum computing is assumed.
As this webinar will be offered via Zoom, you are assumed to have a system (laptop or desktop) with Zoom installed. You will likely also want to have a modern web browser - for Windows preferably Firefox - to access the OnDemand portal at portal.deepthought2.umd.edu.
