General usage information

Magics is a meteorological plotting software package developed by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forcasts (ECMRWF). It provides Python and Fortran interfaces.

The metgramx and metgram commands have been added to your PATH.

The following environmental variables have been defined:

  • \$MAGICS_ROOT has been set to the root of the magics installation
  • \$MAGICS_LIBDIR points to the directory containing the libraries

You will probably wish to use these by adding the following flags to your compilation command (e.g. to CFLAGS in your Makefile):

and the following flags to your link command (e.g. LDFLAGS in your Makefile):
  • -L\$MAGICS_LIBDIR -Wl,-rpath,\$MAGICS_LIBDIR${endlist}
