Product Name:
Allegro
Product Version:
4.3
Vendor:
Franz Inc, Berkeley, CA
Description:

Allegro CL includes an implementation of ANSI Common Lisp and CLOS (the Common Lisp Object System), with a comprehensive application development environment. Common Lisp is a high-level language with special features for programming productivity, such as incremental compilation, automatic memory management, and powerful debugging tools. Common Lisp and CLOS enable programmers to create better applications in less time with built-in functionality and an interactive, incremental environment.

Allegro CL also provides X Window support and smooth integration with the Unix operating system.

Allegro CL offers professional developers a complete delivery solution for commercial applications: Allegro PrestoTM creates smaller, more efficient runtime applications; and Allegro RuntimeTM permits low-cost distribution to end-users.

Allegro CL 4.3.1 offers significant performance enhancements over past versions of Allegro CL. Version 4.3.1 also has been specifically optimized for use with Franz Inc.'s Allegro ComposerTM, a windows- based development system, and Allegro CLIMTM, a portable graphical user interface toolkit. With leading technology, support and service, Franz Inc. provides the best software solutions for development and delivery of complex applications.

Platforms:
SunOS, Solaris
Year 2000 compliance:
Yes (http://www.franz.com/news/cn.main.html#_y2k) In Common Lisp, time is represented by the number of seconds since midnight on 1 January 1900 GMT. There is thus no dependency on two-digit year representations within Allegro CL, and dates past 1 January 2000 will continue to be represented this way. Allegro CL and any associated product from Franz Inc. will not fail because of the change from 1999 to 2000. Note, however, that users of Allegro CL are able to invent arbitrary date data types for their own purposes. Some of these data types may fail for dates past 1 January 2000. Such failures, though, would be due to the data types' design in the users' applications, and not due to Allegro CL itself. Franz Inc. cannot guarantee that users of its products have not designed data types in this way. Customers using products developed with Allegro CL should check with the particular vendors for specific information.

Purify detects access errors before they occur and generates detailed diagnostic messages allowing you to track and eliminate these errors. You can have these messages e-mailed to you as other developers run and test your Purify'd programs. Purify can be installed and mastered in a single afternoon. It is incorporated into your development process simply by adding a single word to your makefile and re-linking. It is designed to be used with existing makefiles, debugging tools, and standard testing scripts.

If you use Purify consistently during the development and testing cycle, you will ship higher quality software while meeting your aggressive schedules.

Product Name:
XGL
Product Version:
2.0
Vendor:
Sun Microsystems, Inc.
Description:

The XGL interface renders onto the graphical display through the device object and 2D or 3D Context objects. The display device is generally an X11 window, linked to the XGL application through a window "handle". The XGL application links the on-screen window to an XGL raster when the raster is created with the generic XGL creation operator xgl_object_create().

The XGL Library requires a window system in which to run when rendering to a framebuffer or other raster graphics device associated witha CRT screen; it does not work with a raw screen. However, rednering to a memory raster or system device does not require a window system. An XGL application may also utilize hardware double-buffering capability when it is available. A flexible buffer-switching mechanism is provided as part of the implementation.

Platforms:
SunOS
Year 2000 compliance:
this version has not been confermed compliant.
