Parallelizing the GCAM Integrated Assessment Model

13:10 Tuesday, November 15

13:10 Wednesday, November 16

Integrated assessment models attempt to model the human activities that give rise to the greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change. Parallelizing these models is particularly challenging because they are organized as a web of interacting economic sectors, rather than as a spatial grid that can be readily distributed to available processors. Nevertheless, there is a lot of parallelism to be had in evaluating the graph of sector interactions. In this talk I discuss the algorithms we developed to parallelize the GCAM integrated assessment model on the DOE/UMD Evergreen computing cluster. <21>Speaker Bio - Robert Link
