General usage information

HDF-EOS (Hierarchical Data Format for Earth Observing System) is a self-describing file format based upon HDF for standard data products that are derived from EOS missions.

HSF-EOS2 is based upon HDF version 4. See HDF-EOS5 for the version based on HDF version 5.

The following environmental variables have been defined:

• \$HDFEOS2_ROOT has been set to the root of the hdf-eos2 installation
• \$HDFEOS2_LIBDIR points to the directory containing the libraries
• \$HDFEOS2_INCDIR points to the directory containing the header files

You will probably wish to use these by adding the following flags to your compilation command (e.g. to CFLAGS in your Makefile):

• -I\$HDFEOS2_INCDIR

and the following flags to your link command (e.g. LDFLAGS in your Makefile):

• -L\$HDFEOS2_LIBDIR -Wl,-rpath,\$HDFEOS2_LIBDIR
