General usage information

NOTE: Most users will not need this package Typically you should use this module unless HPC staff tell you to use it.

This package will enable applications compiled against newer versions of the CUDA Toolkit than are installed on the GPU nodes on the cluster to work with the installed CUDA drivers.

Codes compiled on Zaratan should, by virtue of being compiled on Zaratan, be built against a compatibility version of CUDA.

So the issue of applications built against a newer version of the CUDA Toolkit should only apply to applications installed from binaries. Even in these cases, applications will often work without doing anything special. But there are a limited number of applications, typically those that compile device code to PTX, which need this compatibility package.

This module will add the compatibility libraries to LD_PRELOAD. It is advised that you remove this module when it is no longer needed.
