16,000 GORE VOTES DISAPPEAR IN VOLUSIA COUNTY

There have been numerous reports of Gore votes "disappearing" in Volusia
county. Early reports give the number 10,000. Later reports put the total at
16,000. The reports
describe a computer glitch that was fixed, supposedly restoring the missing
votes.
The mysterious drop was noticed by state election officials and caught on at
least one television broadcast
between 2:00 and 2:15AM Wednesday morning. Here are the links:

THREE FRINGE CANDIDATES RECEIVE 16,000 VOTES IN VOLUSIA COUNTY

Three fringe candidates receive a total of 16,026 counts in Volusia county.
According to a CBS News article at
Go There
the Socialist Workers candidate, collected 9888 votes in Volusia County, FL.
This total represents just over 50% of the 19,057 votes Mr. Harris received
nationwide. (Vote totals taken from CBS website). Mr Harris' campaign web
site: Go There
early October, with visits to Tampa, Miami and Orlando, but nothing in or
near Volusia County.

Also, 3211 out of the 18,856 votes for Harry Browne and 2927 out of the 4280
votes for Howard Phillips in the state of Florida were cast in Volusia
County. Vote totals can be seen by clicking on FL and then county results
at: Go There

In the 1996 election, fringe candidates (other than Clinton, Dole or Perot)
received 827 out of 160,118 votes cast in Volusia County (0.5% of all votes
cast). (See: Go There
candidates -- including Nader and Buchanan, who only received a total of
2,832 -- received 18,953 out of 198,230 (9.6% of votes in Volusia). Could it
be that because Florida and newspapers only report Gore and Bush totals,
this 3rd party error is being overlooked?

LOCAL REPORTERS CHRONICLE COMPUTER GLITCHES IN VOLUSIA COUNTY

3. Local news reports chronicled computer errors on Tuesday, as well as
during primaries in September 2000. See articles:

VOLUSIA RECOUNT SHOWS NO CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!!

4. Volusia's recount results have been posted. See:
Go There. Gore and Bush received
exactly the same totals as initially reported (not a common occurence if
one looks at the results from other counties). Could it be that during the
recount, no one in Volusia was looking at the abnormally large totals of the
three fringe candidates? It appears that Gore's missing 16,000 votes were
misattributed to other candidates.
